| Who Is BMI? | ||
Biofuels Manufacturers of Illinois (BMI) is an Illinois company that has been established to develop, construct and operate a 45 million gallon per year (GPY) biodiesel plant in Peoria County. The plant design is expandable to 60 million GPY and will use multiple feedstocks including soy oil, animal fats and other vegetable oils when it begins operation. Using the most up-to-date design, the BMI plant will have low energy and water consumption and minimum waste effluents of air emissions. |

Two key factors differentiate BMI as a bioenergy project. First, BMI has a strategic partnership with Growmark, one of the largest farmer owned cooperatives operating in the Midwest and Canada, to purchase and market 100% of the biodiesel produced by BMI. The second strategy is the development of a new advanced energy crop called Pennycress to provide vegetable oil to make biodiesel. |
